Getting Here

By Road:  The main A85 Perth – Oban road passes through the village of Connel six miles before reaching the harbour town of Oban. (From Glasgow the main A82 Inverness road joins the A85 at Crianlarich).   Deirdre road is found approximately 100m before passing under Connel bridge when approaching from east.  (Connel Doctor’s Surgery is on opposite side of road). Craiglora Cottage is then first on your right, with a marked allocated car parking space available in front of building.

Connel Ferry Train Station

By Rail: The Glasgow to Oban railway passes through the village with Connel station being just a 10-minute walk from Craiglora cottage.  On an average weekday, there are 6 trains per day travelling to Oban from Glasgow Queen Street.  The journey takes just over 3 hours passing through some stunning mountain views.

By Air:   Oban airport is just a ten-minute drive from the cottage. However, at present there are unfortunately no scheduled flights available linking it to our cities, including Glasgow.  The nearest airport to the cottage for overseas visitors is therefore Glasgow with train, bus or car hire available for onward journey to the cottage.

By Bus:  Citylink and West Coast Motors both operate regular bus routes from Glasgow to Oban.  There is no direct bus from Glasgow (GLA) Airport to Oban. However, there are regular services departing from Glasgow Airport that arrive in Oban via Buchanan Station in Glasgow. There is also a bus that comes from Fort William and this meets up with connections from the Isle of Skye and Inverness. The bus stop for the buses in Connel is just a five-minute walk from the cottage.

If you arrive by public transport you can hire a car in Oban if required:

Guest Access

The front door to the cottage is accessed from the car parking space located in front of the cottage.  A covered, well lit, walkway ensures you do not get soaked entering the cottage from your vehicle.   Once in the cottage you may decide to use the patio door for access as the garden has a gate entrance onto the village pavement.   The cottage garden and balcony are available for the exclusive use of guests.  Any property repairs/maintenance or gardening will be carried out between hours of 11am to 4pm if at all possible to avoid disturbing your stay.
